Willigis of Mainz

Willigis of Mainz (circa 940–1011) was a prominent medieval Archbishop and statesman in Germany. He played a key role in strengthening the Archbishopric of Mainz, a major religious and political center, and supported the Holy Roman Emperor’s authority. Willigis was also a notable builder, initiating the construction of the Mainz Cathedral and other religious structures.
