William S. Rosecrans

William S. Rosecrans was a prominent American Civil War general known for his strategic skill and leadership. Born in 1819, he graduated from the U.S. Military Academy and became a topographical engineer before switching to military service. During the war, he commanded Union forces in key battles in the Western Theater, notably the Battle of Stones River, which boosted Union morale.
