William IV

William IV was King of the United Kingdom from 1830 to 1837. Known as the "Sailor King" due to his naval background, he was the third son of King George III. His reign saw significant political change, including the Reform Act of 1832, which expanded voting rights and addressed issues of representation. William IV's popularity stemmed from his down-to-earth personality and support for social reforms. He was succeeded by his niece, Queen Victoria, whose long reign followed his relatively short time on the throne. William IV's contributions helped shape modern British democracy.
