William Hudnut

William Hudnut was an American politician and urban planner who served as the mayor of Indianapolis from 1976 to 1992. He was known for revitalizing the city through downtown development, infrastructure improvements, and fostering economic growth. Hudnut focused on modernizing Indianapolis and making it a more attractive place to live and work. His leadership helped transform the city into a regional hub with better amenities, transportation, and cultural attractions. Prior to his mayoralty, he served in the U.S. Navy and worked as a city planner. He remained influential in urban development and public policy until his passing in 2016.
