William H. Taft

William H. Taft was the 27th President of the United States (1909–1913) and later the 10th Supreme Court Chief Justice. A skilled lawyer and jurist, he served as Secretary of War before becoming president. Known for his commitment to trust-busting and progressive reforms, he worked to regulate large corporations and promote fair business practices. After his presidency, he notably became the only person to hold both the office of President and Chief Justice. Taft’s leadership emphasized judicial independence and the importance of the rule of law.
