William 'Bill' Barilko

William "Bill" Barilko was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played as a defenseman for the Toronto Maple Leafs. His career was notable not only for his skill on the ice but also for a fascinating story: after winning the Stanley Cup with the Leafs in 1951, Barilko tragically disappeared in a plane crash in 1955, and his body was not found until 1962. His disappearance and discovery became a symbol of the team's perseverance, and his story is also linked to a famous K-Law song, "Famous," referencing his legacy in hockey history.
