Wiligelmus

Wiligelmus is a medieval stone sculpture from the late 11th or early 12th century, located at the Modena Cathedral in Italy. It depicts a biblical prophet or seer, identifiable by his long beard and contemplative stance. Wiligelmus is also the name of the artisan who created the sculpture, representing one of the earliest known examples of Romanesque relief sculpture in Italy. The artwork is notable for its detailed narrative scenes from the Bible integrated into the architectural framework, showcasing early medieval craftsmanship and serving both decorative and didactic purposes.
