Wilhelm Grimm (Linguist)
Wilhelm Grimm was a German linguist and philologist, best known for his work in the early study of language and folklore. He is famous for formulating Grimm's Law, which describes how certain consonant sounds in Germanic languages evolved from their Indo-European roots. This helped to establish historical linguistics as a scholarly field. Additionally, Wilhelm Grimm, along with his brother Jacob, collected and published popular fairy tales, contributing significantly to literature and culture. Their work preserved folk traditions and influenced storytelling in Western literature. His contributions remain foundational in both linguistics and folklore studies.
