WIDA Consortium

The WIDA Consortium is an organization that helps schools support students who are learning English as a second language. It develops research-based assessments, resources, and standards to measure students’ language development and language skills across speaking, listening, reading, and writing. WIDA’s goal is to ensure all English language learners (ELLs) receive effective instruction and have equal opportunities to succeed academically. Schools use WIDA tools to identify students’ needs, plan appropriate teaching strategies, and monitor progress, ultimately helping students become confident English speakers and successful learners.
