Wicketkeeper
A wicketkeeper in cricket is a specialized player positioned behind the stumps at the bowler's end. Their primary role is to catch the ball when the batter misses or edges it, attempt to dismiss the batter by stumping (wiping out the non-striking batter who leaves the crease), and to gather throws from fielders to run out runners. They need quick reflexes, sharp eyesight, and agility. Often involved in many dismissals, the wicketkeeper is a crucial part of the fielding team, helping control the game’s pace and prevent scoring opportunities for the batting team.
