Whorfianism

Whorfianism, also known as linguistic relativity, is the idea that the language we speak influences or shapes our thoughts and perceptions. In other words, the words and structures of our language can affect how we interpret the world around us. For example, some believe that people who speak languages with specific words for certain colors may perceive those colors more distinctly. While language may not determine your thoughts completely, Whorfianism suggests it plays a significant role in influencing how you categorize and understand experiences.
