WHO Rabies Program
The WHO Rabies Program aims to eliminate rabies, a deadly disease spread mainly through dog bites, by improving prevention, control, and access to treatment. It promotes widespread vaccination of dogs, enhances public awareness, and ensures timely access to post-exposure prophylaxis for humans. The program also supports surveillance and data collection to track progress. Its goal is to reduce rabies deaths significantly, ideally eliminating human rabies deaths worldwide, especially in low-resource areas, through coordinated efforts among governments, health organizations, and local communities.
