WHO Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI)
The World Health Organization's Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) was launched in 1974 to ensure that children worldwide receive essential vaccines to protect against deadly diseases like polio, measles, and diphtheria. Its goal is to increase immunization coverage, reduce illness and death caused by infectious diseases, and promote equitable access to vaccines regardless of where people live. By strengthening health systems and raising awareness, EPI helps communities build immunity and improve public health outcomes globally.
