WHO Expanded Programme on Immunization

The World Health Organization’s Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) is a global effort to ensure all children have access to essential vaccines to protect against preventable diseases like measles, polio, and diphtheria. Launched in 1974, it works with countries to strengthen immunization services, improve vaccine coverage, and reduce illness and death from vaccine-preventable diseases. The goal is to make vaccines available everywhere, especially in underserved areas, so children can grow up healthier and communities stay protected.
