WHMIS
WHMIS stands for the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System. It is Canada’s national communication standard for hazardous workplace materials. WHMIS ensures that workers are informed about the chemical products they may encounter on the job. It includes labeling requirements, safety data sheets (SDS), and worker education and training programs. The goal is to promote safety by helping workers understand the risks associated with hazardous materials and how to handle them safely. By providing clear information, WHMIS helps prevent workplace injuries and illnesses related to chemical exposure.
