White Hurricane

The White Hurricane refers to a devastating blizzard that struck the Great Lakes region of the United States and parts of Canada in November 1888. It was characterized by extreme snowfall, strong winds, and dangerously low temperatures, which created whiteout conditions. The storm caused the deaths of around 400 people, disrupted transportation, and left towns isolated. The blizzard’s intensity and impact highlighted the region's vulnerability to severe winter weather and led to improvements in weather forecasting and emergency response in the years that followed.
