Whispering pectoriloquy

Whispering pectoriloquy is a medical finding where the sound of a person's whispered voice becomes unusually clear and easily heard when a healthcare provider listens with a stethoscope on the chest. Normally, whispering is faint and muffled because the lungs and chest structures filter the sound. When whispering pectoriloquy occurs, it indicates that there may be an area of lung tissue filled with fluid, solid mass, or collapsed (consolidated), which transmits sound more effectively. This sign helps doctors identify abnormal lung conditions, such as pneumonia or tumors, that cause lung tissue to become more solid or compacted.
