Whiplash Associated Disorders

Whiplash Associated Disorders (WAD) refer to a range of symptoms resulting from a sudden, forceful movement of the neck, often during car accidents. This rapid motion can stretch or strain the neck muscles, ligaments, and spinal structures, leading to pain, stiffness, headaches, and sometimes dizziness or tingling. While some experience mild symptoms that resolve quickly, others may face persistent discomfort or functional issues. WAD is typically diagnosed based on symptoms and sometimes imaging, and treatment includes pain management, physical therapy, and gradual return to activity. Most people recover fully with appropriate care.
