Wet Storage
Wet storage refers to the method of keeping spent nuclear fuel immersed in water within cooling pools. This water acts as a coolant, absorbing heat generated by radioactive decay, and provides shielding from radiation. The pools are typically located at nuclear power plants and are designed to safely contain the used fuel until it cools down sufficiently for long-term storage or transfer to other facilities. Wet storage is a common short- and medium-term solution to manage radioactive waste safely while minimizing radiation exposure to workers and the environment.
