Western Armenia
Western Armenia refers to the historical Armenian lands located in the eastern part of modern-day Turkey, primarily in the region of Eastern Anatolia. Historically, it was home to a large Armenian population and significant cultural and religious sites, including the city of Van. Following the Armenian Genocide during World War I and subsequent geopolitical changes, these territories are now outside the internationally recognized borders of Armenia. Western Armenia remains an important cultural memory for Armenians worldwide, symbolizing their historic homeland and the struggles they endured, despite being under Turkish sovereignty today.
