Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties

The Wei, Jin, and Southern and Northern Dynasties were successive historical periods in China from roughly 220 to 589 AD. After the fall of the Han Dynasty, China divided into rival states, with the Wei and Jin dynasties governing parts of northern China, while southern regions saw their own dynasties, often more culturally vibrant. This era was marked by political fragmentation, social upheaval, and significant cultural development, including Buddhism's spread. Despite constant conflict, it was also a time of artistic, philosophical, and technological growth that laid groundwork for future unified China under the Sui Dynasty.
