Wattle and daub

Wattle and daub is an ancient building technique used to create walls. It involves weaving wooden strips (wattle) between upright frames, then covering the woven lattice with a mixture of clay, soil, straw, and sometimes animal manure (daub). This creates solid, insulated walls that are both durable and relatively easy to construct. The method was common in many cultures before modern building materials and is still used today in some eco-friendly construction. Wattle and daub provided a cost-effective way to build sturdy, weather-resistant structures using natural, locally available materials.
