Waterline

A waterline is the level at which water reaches on a boat or ship when it’s floating in the water. It indicates how much of the vessel is submerged and can change based on the load, buoyancy, and water conditions. The waterline helps crew and designers assess stability, weight distribution, and safety. For example, a higher waterline might mean the boat is heavily loaded, while a lower waterline suggests it’s lighter or more buoyant. It’s an important reference point in maritime operations, ensuring vessels are balanced, safe, and compliant with regulations.
