A water footprint measures the total amount of freshwater used to produce a product or service, including all steps involved. It accounts for water used directly in manufacturing, as well as water needed for growing raw materials or ingredients, and even the water consumed indirectly during the supply chain. This concept helps us understand the environmental impact of our consumption habits. For example, producing a cup of coffee requires thousands of liters of water, considering the growing, processing, and transportation.
