Waterflooding
Waterflooding is an oil recovery technique where water is injected into an underground oil reservoir through designated wells. This added water increases pressure, helping push the remaining oil toward production wells for extraction. It’s a common secondary recovery method that enhances oil recovery beyond initial extraction, making use of the pressure already present in the reservoir. Properly managed, waterflooding can significantly boost the amount of oil that can be economically recovered, while also monitoring water quality and reservoir response to optimize efficiency and minimize environmental impact.
