Water Users Associations

Water Users Associations (WUAs) are community-led groups formed by local farmers or residents who share a common water source, such as a river, canal, or aquifer. Their purpose is to collectively manage, maintain, and distribute water efficiently and fairly among members. WUAs help coordinate water usage, resolve conflicts, and oversee infrastructure like irrigation systems. By organizing at the local level, they promote sustainable water use, ensure equitable access, and support the community’s water needs, balancing individual interests with collective management for long-term resource health.
