Water Tables

The water table is the underground boundary where soil and rock are fully saturated with water. It's like an invisible surface separating the above-dry soil from the water-filled zone below. The water table's level changes with rainfall, drought, and other factors—rising during wet periods and falling during dry ones. It is important for wells, as it determines where groundwater can be accessed, and influences the health of ecosystems and the availability of fresh water. Understanding the water table helps us manage water resources sustainably and prevent issues like land subsidence or contamination.
