Water softening

Water softening is a process that removes minerals like calcium and magnesium from hard water, which can cause scale buildup in appliances and reduce soap effectiveness. Typically, a water softener uses resin beads charged with sodium ions; as hard water passes through, calcium and magnesium ions are exchanged for sodium, resulting in softer water. This helps extend the lifespan of appliances, improves cleaning efficiency, and prevents mineral deposits. The system is regenerated periodically with a salt solution to replenish the resin beads. Overall, water softening improves water quality for household and industrial use by reducing mineral hardness.
