Washington State Three-Strikes Law
Washington State's Three-Strikes Law is a legal statute designed to impose harsher penalties on repeat offenders. Under this law, if a person is convicted of three serious felonies (called “strikes”), they can receive a life sentence without the possibility of parole. This law aims to deter serious crime by punishing habitual offenders more severely. It applies specifically to certain violent crimes and other significant offenses, meaning that not all convictions count as strikes. The intent is to enhance public safety by keeping dangerous repeat offenders off the streets.
