Warren E. Burger (Former Chief Justice)
Warren E. Burger was the 15th Chief Justice of the United States, serving from 1969 to 1986. Appointed by President Richard Nixon, he led the Supreme Court during a time of significant social change. Burger was known for advocating for judicial restraint, meaning he believed courts should be careful in how they interpret laws. He presided over important cases involving abortion, desegregation, and free speech, most notably the landmark decision in Roe v. Wade. After retiring, he focused on improving the judiciary and promoting alternative dispute resolution methods.
