War of Troy
The Trojan War was an ancient conflict between the city of Troy and Greek states, believed to have occurred around the 12th or 13th century BCE. According to legend, it started when Paris, a prince of Troy, abducted Helen, wife of a Greek king. The Greeks launched a ten-year siege to recover her, famously culminating in the use of the Trojan Horse—an enormous wooden statue hiding soldiers—to infiltrate and destroy Troy. While rooted in myth, many historians believe the war reflects real tensions between ancient cultures, blending history with legend through stories like those in Homer's "Iliad."
