War of the Holy League

The War of the Holy League (1684-1699) was a conflict in Europe primarily between the Ottoman Empire and a coalition known as the Holy League, which included the Papal States, Poland-Lithuania, and Austria. This alliance sought to stop Ottoman expansion into Europe. The war began with several successful campaigns by the Holy League, ultimately leading to the Treaty of Karlowitz in 1699. This treaty marked a significant defeat for the Ottomans, causing them to lose territory in Central Europe and shifting the balance of power, favoring the Holy League and contributing to the decline of Ottoman influence in the region.
