War of the Goths

The War of the Goths (376–382 AD) was a conflict between the Roman Empire and Gothic tribes displaced by invading Huns. The Goths sought refuge within Roman borders but faced harsh treatment, leading to a rebellion that culminated in the Battle of Adrianople (378 AD), where the Goths decisively defeated Roman forces. This war highlighted the declining power of the Roman Empire and its struggles to manage shifting barbarian groups on its borders. Ultimately, the conflict resulted in greater Gothic influence within the empire and underscored the beginning of large-scale barbarian invasions that contributed to Rome's decline.
