War of Independence (Turkey)
The Turkish War of Independence (1919–1923) was a national movement led by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk to resist foreign occupation and reject the partitioning of the Ottoman Empire after World War I. Turkish nationalists fought against Allied forces and Greek invasions, aiming to establish a sovereign, modern nation. The war resulted in the defeat of occupying powers and the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne, which recognized Turkey's borders. This victory paved the way for the creation of the Republic of Turkey in 1923, marking the transition from the Ottoman Empire to a united, independent nation-state.
