Walter Fauntroy

Walter Fauntroy is an American politician and civil rights leader who served as a delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives representing Washington, D.C., from 1971 to 1991. As a non-voting delegate, he advocated for D.C. residents’ interests and promoted civil rights and social justice. Before politics, he was a pastor and a close associate of Martin Luther King Jr., playing a significant role in the civil rights movement. After leaving Congress, Fauntroy has continued to be active in community and political issues affecting D.C. and social justice causes.
