Walter B. Gibson (1897–1969) was an American writer and magician best known for creating the character The Shadow, a mysterious crime-fighter featured in pulp novels and radio dramas. Under the pseudonym Maxwell Grant, he authored numerous thrilling stories that helped shape modern detective and superhero genres. Gibson was also a skilled magician and a close associate of Houdini, which influenced his storytelling.
