Wakhan District
Wakhan District is a remote, mountainous area in northeastern Afghanistan, bordering Tajikistan, China, and Pakistan. Known for its rugged terrain and stunning landscapes, it is part of the Wakhan Corridor, a narrow strip of land that serves as a buffer zone between these countries. The district is sparsely populated, mainly by small communities engaged in herding and agriculture. It holds cultural significance due to its historic trade routes along the Silk Road. Despite its natural beauty and strategic location, Wakhan faces challenges such as limited infrastructure, isolation, and access to resources.
