Waidan

Waidan, meaning "external elixir," is an ancient Chinese practice of alchemy focused on the creation of physical elixirs or substances within the body to promote health, longevity, or spiritual transformation. It involves the use of specific herbs, minerals, and techniques to cultivate internal energy and refine the body’s essence. Waidan is distinct from Neidan, which emphasizes internal meditation and spiritual cultivation. Historically, Waidan aimed to produce substances believed to have life-extending or transcendent powers. Although rooted in traditional Chinese medicine and mysticism, modern understanding treats it as a symbolic or historical practice rather than a literal method for creating physical elixirs today.
