Władysław II Jagiełło was a medieval Lithuanian prince who became King of Poland through marriage in the late 14th century. He united Lithuania and Poland, founding the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, one of Europe’s largest and most influential states of its time. Known for his leadership during the Battle of Grunwald in 1410, he helped defend his realm against the Teutonic Knights. Jagiełło’s reign established a lasting union between Lithuania and Poland, promoting political stability, cultural exchange, and military strength across Eastern Europe until his death in 1434.
