Vytautas the Great, also known as Vitautas Didysis, was a prominent 15th-century Lithuanian leader who significantly expanded and strengthened the Lithuanian state. As Grand Duke of Lithuania from 1392 to 1430, he united various Baltic and Ruthenian lands and fought against the Teutonic Knights, securing Lithuania's independence and borders. Vytautas also collaborated with Poland through the Union of Krewo, helping to shape a major Baltic power. His leadership is remembered for military skill, political savvy, and efforts to consolidate Lithuania's territory during a pivotal period in Eastern European history.
