VX nerve agent
VX is a highly toxic nerve agent, classified as a chemical weapon. It disrupts the normal functioning of the nervous system by inhibiting an enzyme that breaks down a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. When this enzyme is blocked, acetylcholine accumulates, causing continuous stimulation of muscles, leading to paralysis and potentially death. VX is odorless and tasteless, making it particularly dangerous. It can be absorbed through the skin, inhaled, or ingested, and even small amounts can be lethal. Its use is banned under international law due to its potential for mass harm.
