VSB (Vestigial Sideband)

VSB, or Vestigial Sideband, is a type of amplitude modulation used in radio and television broadcasting to efficiently transmit signals. It involves transmitting one complete sideband (a mirror image of the original signal's frequency components) and a small part (vestige) of the other, reducing the bandwidth needed. This technique saves space on the radio spectrum while maintaining audio and video quality. VSB is commonly used in color TV broadcasts because it offers a good balance between signal quality and bandwidth efficiency, allowing high-quality images to be sent over limited spectrum resources.
