Voyage Charter
A voyage charter is a contractual agreement between a ship owner and a charterer, where the owner agrees to transport a specific cargo between designated ports for a set voyage. The charterer pays a fee known as "freight" for the transportation. This arrangement typically covers the use of the ship for that particular journey, including the voyage's duration and costs, but not necessarily the ship's availability afterward. Voyage charters are common in international trade to efficiently move goods like commodities, ensuring clarity on terms, ports, and costs between parties.
