von Mises distribution
The von Mises distribution is a statistical model used to describe data points that are angles or directions on a circle, such as wind directions or animal movement patterns. It is similar to a normal distribution but adapted for circular data, meaning it accounts for the fact that 0° and 360° represent the same direction. The distribution has a center point (mean direction) and a concentration parameter that indicates how tightly data points cluster around that mean. When the concentration is high, most data points are close to the mean; when low, they are spread out more evenly around the circle.
