Von Hippel-Lindau Disease
Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease is a rare genetic condition where tumors develop in multiple organs, such as the brain, spine, eyes, kidneys, and pancreas. It occurs due to mutations in the VHL gene, which normally helps control cell growth and prevent tumor formation. Because of this mutation, abnormal growths can develop, some of which may become cancerous. People with VHL require regular medical screenings to detect and manage tumors early. Although there is no cure, treatment options like surgery, radiation, or medications can help manage tumor growth and reduce health risks associated with the disease.
