Volatile anaesthetics
Volatile anesthetics are medicines inhaled as vapors to induce and maintain general anesthesia during surgery. They work by affecting the brain and nervous system, leading to unconsciousness, pain relief, and muscle relaxation. These anesthetics are administered through the breathing circuit and are carefully controlled to ensure patient safety. Common examples include sevoflurane, desflurane, and isoflurane. They are widely used because they can be quickly started and stopped, allowing anesthesiologists precise management of anesthesia depth during procedures.
