VOKS
VOKS, or the All-Union Society for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, was a Soviet organization established in 1947 to promote cultural exchange between the USSR and other nations. Its goal was to foster mutual understanding through activities like arts, education, and diplomacy, showcasing Soviet culture abroad and bringing international ideas into the USSR. VOKS coordinated cultural events, exhibitions, and collaborations to build relationships and improve the USSR’s global image. After the Soviet Union’s dissolution, VOKS was replaced by newer entities, but it played a significant role in Cold War-era cultural diplomacy.
