Voice box

The voice box, or larynx, is a part of your throat that houses the vocal cords. It plays a key role in producing sound when air passes through the vocal cords, causing them to vibrate. It also helps protect your airway during swallowing by closing off the windpipe, preventing food or liquids from entering your lungs. Additionally, the larynx contributes to breathing and speaking, and its muscles and cartilage allow for pitch and volume control. Essentially, it’s central to voice production, breathing, and safeguarding your airway.
