Vitus (Saint)

Saint Vitus was a Christian martyr and saint who is venerated as the patron saint of dancers, actors, and performers. He lived during the late 3rd and early 4th centuries in Roman times. According to tradition, he refused to renounce his faith despite persecution and was ultimately executed. Over time, many miracles were attributed to him, leading to widespread veneration. The "Saint Vitus Dance" (Sydenham's chorea) is a neurological disorder named after him, characterized by rapid, involuntary movements, historically linked to illnesses believed to be under his protection.
