Visually impaired athletes
Visually impaired athletes are competitors who have some level of vision loss, ranging from partial sight to complete blindness. They participate in sports by using specialized techniques and adaptive equipment, such as guide runners or audio cues, to navigate and compete safely. These athletes train just like others, demonstrating skill, strength, and determination. Many sports have adapted formats—like goalball, where players rely on hearing, or blind tennis, which uses sound-emitting balls—allowing visually impaired individuals to excel and showcase their abilities alongside sighted competitors.
